The system

NOREPS is essentially a system – a network of committed partners providing products and services under a common brand name. NOREPS is jointly financed by the partners and the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which draws up its guidelines. Innovation Norway, a public entity under the Norwegian Ministry of Trade and Industry, is the administrator for the NOREPS system.

NOREPS relies on the availability of suitable products and services. This is secured by producing and storing goods and training and contracting personnel in advance. NOREPS partner companies are obliged to stock approved products and to deliver them to an international airport within 24 hours of request. Contracted personnel are obliged to deploy to a given mission area within 72 hours of notice.

NOREPS partners maintain stocks of essential products at a warehouse in Oslo (Norway) and at depots run by the UN, the Red Cross and NGOs. The main depot is located in Brindisi (Italy). Further depots are maintained in at-risk areas, i.e. Cambodia (to be moved to Malaysia), Malawi, and Kenya (to be replaced by a larger, regional warehouse in Dubai).

NOREPS’s product stocks ensure the ready availability of essential goods. The fact that a wide range of products is kept at each warehouse/depot enables the efficient and cost-effective dispatch of a range of vital items at the same time. Partners replace products immediately.
